Timothy Scott Eck's Obituary
Timothy Scott Eck, age 39 of San Mateo, California passed away on February 17, 2015 at San Mateo Medical Center. Born on April 18, 1975 in Washington, PA, Tim was the son of Scott W. and Elizabeth S. Eck, currently of West Chester, PA. As a young boy Tim loved being outdoors riding his bike, skiing, running or hiking. He was a 1993 graduate of Hershey (PA) High School and a 1997 graduate of Lehigh University where he earned a BS in Computer Engineering. His passion for a career in technology brought him to the San Francisco Bay Area where he initially worked as a software engineer for Sapient Inc. Following a brief stint at Walmart.com, Tim went on to become a co-founder of Terracotta, Inc. now a division of Software AG.A tall and soft-spoken man, Tim will be remembered by his colleagues and close friends for his brilliant mind, his sense of humor and his kind heart.Tim was married to Grace Kim in 2007 and was a devoted loving father to his son, Matthew and his daughter, Olivia, all of whom survive and miss him dearly. A favorite family activity was visiting the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve during low tide and having picnics on Moss Beach. He shared his love of the outdoors and music with his children, taking them on hikes all around the Bay Area and introducing them to favorite bands like Pinback.Also surviving are his brother, Brian J. Eck of Westborough, MA, his sister, Jennifer L. Eck of Brooklyn, NY, four nieces and nephews, several cousins and his maternal grandmother.Memorial services will be held at Skylawn Memorial Park near Half Moon Bay on March 20, 2015.In lieu of flowers, donations in Tim’s name may be made to Friends of Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, P.O. Box 669, Moss Beach, CA 94038, or the charity of your choice.
