父親1933年11月16日出生於台灣台中
在台中度過美好的童年和基礎求學時光
以優秀的成績進入台灣成功大學電機系就讀
畢業後進入台灣電力公司工作
與我母親劉素貞相識相知結婚後定居於台北市
幸福成家養育了一雙兒女
在辛勤的工作和主管的賞識下
一路晉升到台電公司南部燃煤儲運中心主任
其後在總公司以副研究員退休
退休後移民至氣候宜人環境優美的加州舊金山
父親所栽培的一雙兒女也在舊金山灣區順利工作置產生兒育女
閒暇時從事園藝,旅遊,觀賞球類競賽和朋友相聚等十分充實愉快的退休時光
三代和樂融融度過美好時光
如今他擺脫了身體的束縛
在虔誠的佛教信仰下安息在一片美麗的淨土
他的孩子家人和朋友們都會非常想念他
Our beloved father, Tieh-Shu Lai passed away peacefully on November 16, 2021, which also happened to be his 88th birthday. His two children, Irene and Jonathan, were by his side.
Tieh-Shu Lai was born on November 16, 1933 in Taichung, Taiwan. He had a wonderful childhood growing up in Taichung alongside his 2 brothers and 4 sisters. With his excellent grades, he attended National Chong Kung University in Taiwan, and studied in the Department of Electrical Engineering. He was married to Su-Chen Liu and they began to raise their family in Taipei, which included their daughter Irene and son Jonathan.
In his career, Tieh-Shu worked very hard and was ultimately promoted to Director of Taiwan Power Company’s Southern Coal Storage and Transportation Center. His last position was Associate Researcher in the Head Office prior to retiring.
In 1999, Tieh-Shu and Su-Chen immigrated to San Francisco, California to be closer to their children and grandchildren, and enjoy their retirement in the pleasant climate of the Bay Area. A man of many interests and hobbies, Tieh-Shu enjoyed gardening, taking in Earth’s beauty on walks, watching sports, and being in the company of friends. A cherished memory was how often he played tour guide and host to his visiting friends. He was a man of faith and lived his life a devout Buddhist.
His family will miss him dearly but will continue to honor his legacy through all the ways he has touched and inspired their lives.
