Obituary of Thomas R. EdwardsThomas R. Edwards, aged 56, died on July 26, 2017.Tom was born on April 21, 1961 to John and Ann Edwards in Tucson, Arizona. He and his family subsequently lived in New Jersey, Alabama, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, before finding his true home in the Bay Area of California. He graduated from Homestead High School in Cupertino, CA and pursued his own landscape business successfully for several years. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Chico State College. He worked for several Bay Area companies, lastly at Network Appliances. He loved his work, and he balanced work and life well with family and friends.Tom was a natural athlete and excelled in sports his entire life. He swam competitively, played baseball, water polo, soccer, skied, rode a dirt bike, and did crazy things like hiking up Half Dome in Yosemite and riding a mountain bike down.The real love of Tom’s life was his family. His sister Carole, who was 14 months older than him, was always his closest friend—to the point of getting into fist fights to protect her if he felt it necessary. He married Catherine in 2006 and has two beautiful boys, Joshua and Jonathan. Tom was a very supportive husband and loving father. There never was a better father than Tom who spent all his free time with them—teaching them to play the sports he loved. Holidays and birthdays never passed without a joyful family gathering.Tom made friends wherever he was. He volunteered his time as baseball coach for the youth. He was a Christian with big heart and great love. Tom was a bright star in the life of all his family members and friends. We all have “Tom” stories to tell. He will be greatly missed.A memorial service was held on 8/4/2017 at 2pm at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo.In memory of Thomas Edwards who was “Full of Life, Full of Love”.
