円山高君のご逝去を悼み、謹んでご家族にお悔やみ申し上げます。
私たちは大阪大学の同窓生で、毎年日本で集まりを持っています。2011年に彼が日本に帰国したときに、東京で歓迎会を催しました。彼は、その後も毎年のように私たちにメッセージを送ってくれ、SLACで10年来ダークマターを発見する実験を行っていること、コロナ期間中は犬の散歩とジョギングで過ごしていたこと、そして、2022年には、骨髄がんの治療をしていることを話してくれて、それが最後のメッセージになりました。
同窓の集まりではいつも彼のことが話題になります。彼は私たちの仲間であり、誇りでした。円山高君、さようなら。

We mourn the passing of Mr. Maruyama Takashi and offer our heartfelt condolences to his family.
We are alumni of Osaka University and meet in Japan every year. When he returned to Japan in 2011, we held a welcome party in Tokyo. He sent us messages almost every year after that, telling us that he had been conducting experiments to discover dark matter at SLAC for the past 10 years, that he spent his time walking his dog and jogging during the COVID-19 period, and that in 2022 he will be undergoing treatment for bone marrow cancer. That was his final message.
He is always a topic of conversation at alumni gatherings. He was our friend and our pride. Farewell, Mr. Maruyama Takashi.
