Sutha Kwong's Obituary
Sut-Ha (Elise) Kwong (born Yap Sut Ha), age 89 of San Ramon, California, formerly of Worthington, Ohio, passed away on November 18, 2019 due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease. She spent her final days at San Ramon Regional Hospital, where she was surrounded by her loving family.Elise was born November 20, 1929 in Guangdong, China to the late Quan Chiong and Lui Shi. She was raised in Manila, Philippines, and obtained Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Mapua Institute of Technology in the 1950’s. She began graduate studies after college, but soon thereafter immigrated to the United States with her husband. She married Richard Kwong on December 15, 1961, and the couple settled in central Ohio, where they raised their only child, Donna. Elise worked as a quality control analyst in the Superabrasives unit of General Electric Company in Worthington, Ohio from 1968 until her retirement in 1993. In her retirement, she enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with her two granddaughters.She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Richard Kwong, her daughter, Dr. Donna (Dr. Roger Chan) Kwong, granddaughters Larissa Chan and Talia Chan. Siblings: Janet (Douglas) Wong, John (Mildred) Quan, Mary Kim (Walter) Chung, Carol (Choy) Chung, Lena (Nicolas) Lie, Jimmy (Julie) Quan, Amy (Dr. Hans) Reimann.Service to be held at Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park, (Highway 92 at Skyline Blvd), in San Mateo, California on Sunday December 8, 2019.
