Susana Co Chua's Obituary
Susana Chua passed away in Maui, Hawaii, on November 27, 2016 at the age of 76. She was born in Bangued, Abra, Phlippines in August 11, 1940. Susana graduated from the University of the East in 1966 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, and opened a private practice in Manila. At the age of 29, she married Ignacio Chua, and they were blessed with four children—Geoffrey, Yvette, Derrick, and Gwen. She and her family moved to Foster City in 1984 where she worked full time while studying for her CA Dental Board Exam. Soon thereafter, she opened a private practice in San Francisco’s Mission District.Susana lived life passionately. She enjoyed cooking Filipino-Chinese cuisine for friends and family, traveling—in 2010, her adventurous spirit led her to a pilgrimage in Israel, spending time growing her beautiful garden, and watching Dancing With the Stars. She touched the lives of everyone she met. She was a doting wife, mother, and grandmother, and an active member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church. Susana worked hard to build and sustain her practices for 50 years. She had a love for and dedication to dentistry, as evidenced by her patients’ commitment and loyalty. Above all, Susana loved to spend time with her family. She taught her children and grandchildren to uphold the principles of love, patience, and kindness. She brought joy to those around her, and her fervor for life was evident in her everyday actions.Susana is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ignacio; her son, Geoffrey, his wife, Barbara, and their daughter, Emma; her daughter, Yvette, her husband, Greg, and their sons, Nick and Nate; her son, Derrick, his wife, Chrissa, and their sons, Desmond and Dylan; and her son, Gwen.Funeral services for Susana will be held on the following days:-Wednesday, December 7 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church @ 10AM-Thursday, December 8 at Skylawn Memorial Park @ 1 -5 PM-Friday, December 9 at Skylawn Memorial Park @ 1 – 8 PM
