Sunder Mehrotra's Obituary
On January 11, 1925 a beautiful soul was gifted to this world when Sunder was born to Mr. Chote Lal Khanna and Mrs. Aal Dai Khanna. Sunder in Hindi means beautiful and her true beauty lay in the inner qualities that she possessed. She was an incredibly compassionate, calm, gentle, loving and forgiving person with tremendous determination, endurance and capacity for overcoming adversity.Sunder graduated with Bhushan (an equivalent at the time of a BA) in Hindi from Indra Prastha College in Delhi. She was married to Naresh Shanker Mehrotra on May 18, 1944. They were married for 69 years, until he passed away on July 4, 2013. Sunder and Naresh immigrated to America in 1981 and lived mostly in California ever since. Sunder wholeheartedly dedicated herself to her husband, four children, seven grandchildren, three great-grand children in addition to her extended family.Mrs. Sunder Mehrotra passed away on the morning of October 31, 2014. She will be missed dearly, and her legacy will live on through her family.A small, private and intimate ‘last rites’ service with family and close friends will be held for Mrs. Sunder Mehrotra at Skylawn Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 4th.Sunder was passionate about children’s education.
