Sun I. Hwang's Obituary
Suni Hwang, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on June 5, 1937, our mother lived a life defined by love, devotion, and quiet strength.
For 70 beautiful years, she shared her life with her husband, Nak Son Hwang, until his passing on March 29, 2023. Together, they raised a large and loving family of eight children — five sons and three daughters — and carried the memory of their daughter who passed in infancy with them always.
Suni's greatest joy came from being surrounded by family. She was a nurturing mother, a tender grandmother to 18 grandchildren, and a proud great-grandmother to 9. Her warmth, patience, and unwavering love touched every generation she helped raise.
She will be remembered not only for her deep dedication to her family but also for the quiet pleasures she cherished — especially tending to her garden, where she found peace and beauty in nature’s simple gifts.
Suni’s legacy lives on in the lives and hearts of those who loved her. She leaves behind a family strengthened by her example, and a memory that will be cherished forever.
