Suk Ching Cheung's Obituary
Cheung Suk Ching 張淑貞, born July 21, 1941 in Zhongsan China passed away at age 81 in her sleep on Tuesday night, February 14, 2023 in San Francisco California with family by her side.
She emigrated to the bustling 1950’s Hong Kong and began working in the growing jewelry business at Universal. She loved to recount her daily routine, running throughout the city each day by foot or tram, taking client orders, drawing designs on the spot, and rushing precious stones back to the shop to keep people working. She took pride in helping people create a living. Her daily interactions with clients and co-workers helped create many beloved pieces and many lasting relationships. She moved to America in 1974 where she continued building decades long relationships with customers who loved the quality, creativity, and integrity of the Yu Yee Jewelry brand. She truly loved the art of fine jewelry all her life.
Her most important life aspect was of course family. In raising her two sons, Simon and Harry were raised with a sense of duty to home, an expectation to learn life skills outside school, and independence. To many nieces and nephews, friends, and daughter in law Yvonne, her care for them was often one step closer than the titles. As a grandmother, she participated in every way she could. Her love for Alexander and Stephanie is reflected in their caring hearts today.
Suk Ching also loved travel, realizing her dreams of visiting both natural and manmade places of beauty throughout the world. She was able to see almost all the places she dreamed of. Wherever she went her favorite thing was to swim in beautiful waters. From these trips she would always bring gifts. She wanted to bring people a bit of her happiness and this is true still today.
We hope she touched your life somehow. And she hopes in this time you remember her with happiness.
Note: if you would like to contribute to her memory, donations can be made to the American Red Cross. These tributes are in gratitude for life-giving blood that helped comfort and sustain her when she needed it.
Funeral: We will memorialize Suk Ching Cheung on Saturday, February 25th, 2023 at 11am at Skylawn Funeral Home
