Steve Pekarek's Obituary
Steve Pekarek Jr. Steve passed away September 22, 2011 at the age of 84. He was born November 8, 1926 in Kimball, South Dakota to Steve Sr. and Stacy Pekarek. Steve grew up on a farm with his six sisters: Florence, Loretta, Junie, Catherine, Delores and Marjean. He farmed with his dad and later hauled gravel until he was drafted into the army. Steve served two years during the Korean War and was stationed in France. Upon returning from the service, Steve married his sweetheart, Ann Pulse, on May 27 1953. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage. Shortly after they married, they moved to San Francisco, CA where they had three children. Steve worked for Orewheat Bakery. They were lonesome for home and moved back to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1962 where they had three more children. Steve drove a Foremost Milk truck and worked in a local food warehouse. In 1968 they moved back to California and settled in Daly City where Steve worked for nearly 20 years as a union warehouse man at Karastan Carpet, until his retirement. When Steve retired he spent many years selling in the local flea markets. He always enjoyed talking to people and could start a conversation with almost anyone. He loved watching the Giants baseball games and walking the dogs with his son, David. Towards the end of his life, his greatest enjoyment was playing video poker game. He could sit for hours and play the game. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, his daughter, Julie Pekarek Morgan, and a grandson, Brandon Scott Pekarek. He is survived by his wife Ann, his five children Vicki Pekarek, Steve (Debbie) Pekarek, David Pekarek, Lisa (Rob) Pekarek Donsife and Dean (Sylvia) Pekarek. He is also survived by his three loved dogs Jami Jane, Tasha and River.
