Steve was a one of a kind, phenomenal person who is hard to find. Even if he was half way around the world in Japan, visiting his beloved Mom, he would return calls and emails. In my case, it was usually to answer my questions about computer problems. Steve gave me an old laptop to take on trips, helped me numerous times with computer problems and even came to my house to help me transfer files from an old computer to my new desktop...he always refused my attempt to pay him for his expert help...I did finally talk him into meeting me a couple of times at a San Carlos brewery and at a San Bruno restaurant so that I could buy him some food and beers. Steve helped friends with moves and remodeling their condo. He volunteered his time at a senior center to help seniors with their annual income tax filing. Steve had a great smile and an infectious laugh. He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Steve!

I know Steve while I was settling in a small condo in San Bruno, California in 1989.
He helped me to set up my first lap top and my first desk top. He taught me how to download music from ITunes to my first iPod. Our favorite hang out was a Mexican restaurant Celia in South City.
In 2006, he helped me to drive an UHaul to Las Vegas with my doggie Chloe, BTW, Steve was also Chloe’s best friend as I didn’t know how many pieces of chicken livers he had given to her. Chloe had bitten my postman once. But Steve said that Chloe would never bite him because if she did, he would bite back.
Our friendship had distanced as I moved to Houston, and later to New Jersey. I did have the chance to talk to him 2 months before his passing. In his weak and wispy voice, he still had words of encouragement and reassurance for me as I’m going through the trial in my life.
Steve had and always will be a truthful friend and has a special place in my heart. Doris

Steve entered our lives over forty-six years ago. He was a gentle soul, kind and thoughtful. He was a good friend for almost fifty years, a mentor and pretty much a family member. Just a few months ago, he was still craving the Akron-style rigatoni and pork chops, which we served often. I will miss selecting his series tickets to the symphony and after forty-five years still trying to figure out what he did for a living. He was enigmatic fellow, sometimes mysterious, but always there for you. It is difficult to process that the one person you knew you could count on over the decades is no longer there. He is truly missed. Thanks Steve, for all the things you did for me and for being that friend.
