Socorro Marallag Miller's Obituary
Socorro “Cora” Miller, age 80, of San Bruno, California died at the home of her son on December 5, 2022. She was placed in home hospice care after suffering a number of embolic strokes in August 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family as she peacefully passed into the presence of the Lord Jesus.
She was born on September 25, 1942 in Manila, Philippines to Mariano and Fermina Marallag. She attended secondary school in Tuguegarao, Cagayan. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Philippine Normal College and a Master’s Degree in Linguistics from the University of the Philippines in Quezon City. She taught at Adamson University in Manila while working at City Hall. She immigrated to the United States and married Herbert Miller in San Francisco, California on March 27, 1972. She began a successful, decades-long career as a Real Estate Broker and Property Manager working for Century 21 before opening her own brokerage. They lived in Daly City for several years before finally moving to San Bruno in 1985.
Cora was extremely intelligent and hard-working. She also was a true fashionista and enjoyed coordinating stylish, great-looking outfits and accessories. What she most enjoyed was her family, treasuring the simple and loving interactions of everyday home life. She grew up in the Catholic Church tradition in the Philippines and last attended New City Church in Burlingame, California.
She is survived by her son, Lee Miller and his wife, Evelina, her grandson, Jeremiah and granddaughter, Jocelyn, of San Bruno, and numerous nieces and nephews in the United States and Philippines.
She was predeceased by her husband Herbert Miller on April 21, 2021, as well as her siblings Estrella Dela Cruz, Andrea Bacolod, Guadalupe Quiapo, Lily Villareal, Raymundo Marallag, Leandra Calimag, Mariano Marallag Jr, and Purita Balintong.
A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, December 23, 2022 beginning at 11 AM PST at Skylawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park in San Mateo, California.
