Simplicio Javier Nario's Obituary
Simplicio “Sam” Javier Nario, age 94, died in Reno, NV on March 12, 2022 after a brief illness. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. Sam met and married Aurora Bagares in 1958 at the age of 31 in Memphis, TN. In 1975 he retired from the Navy as a Chief Musician after a 30-year career and moved his family to Foster City, CA. After his military retirement he joined the Postal Service where he worked for another 17 years before final retirement.
Sam was a professional musician all his life playing in several military and civilian bands. He is survived by his sister, Veronica, his son, Ray, his daughter April Joy, daughter-in-law Rosa, and his granddaughter Renee. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Aurora, his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will take place at Skylawn Cemetery in San Mateo, CA on Thursday, April 14 at 12:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served after the service. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m.
