Though his departure was unexpected, his organ functions had been weakening; still, he fought his illness courageously and won everyone’s respect.Shouhsi, the youngest of three children to Jie-San Tao and Xia Shi Tao, was born in Hu-Bei, China in 1927. He volunteered for the military service during the Japanese invasion of mainland China and was trained as a navy cadet in the United States. After the war he went back to China to resume his studies and entered Hua Chong University in 1948, later enrolling in Hua Nan University in Macau after the communist takeover of mainland China. After graduating from Hua Nan University with a major in English Literature, he moved to Taiwan in 1949. He met and married his wife, Wen Hui Wu, in 1959. Together, they have four children and six grandchildren.Shouhsi started his career as an officer in the Republic of China Air Force Air Control Squadron and later became the Associate Director in the Central News Agency and Supervisor at the China Airlines Training Center.After his retirement, Shouhsi and his wife Wen Hui moved to the US in 1993 to stay close to their family in the San Francisco Bay area. He enjoyed travelling with his family, playing with his grandchildren, as well as photography.Shouhsi is survived by his wife Wen Hui, four children Emily Teh-Yi, Olive Teh-Hsung, Teh-Yu and Teh-Tun and six grandchildren Eric, Frank, Tiffany, Lucas, Claire, and Emma.Memorial Service and Burial Monday, August 10, 2015, 12pm Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park Route 35 at Highway 92, San Mateo, CA 94402 (650)349-4411
