Shelley Dianne Dwyer's Obituary
Shelley Dianne Dwyer of San Francisco, CA was born June 12,1951, and passed away at home on June 28, 2024 at the age of 73.
She was born in Visalia, California, and while attending Redwood High School enjoyed song leading and was bestowed as the FFA (Future Farmers of America) queen in her junior year. She took ballet and piano lessons and helped her father in the family floral and nursery business.
Shelley attended Canada College and Lincoln Law School, where she graduated in 1990. She was a Deputy Public Defender with Tulare County from 1990-1993, where she received an accolade for having tried the most jury trials among all Tulare County Deputy Public Defenders during that time. She was called “Jury Trial Queen,” and proudly displayed the award during her entire career as a criminal defense attorney.
Shelley loved to see the world and traveled to Europe and to the East Coast for visits with her sister, taking cruises to Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean with both children and friends. She loved Paris, warm summer Bay Area nights, and hosting gatherings with family and friends.
Shelley loved her family dearly. Her children were the light of her life and her relationship with her sister was cherished. She was an amazing friend, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and colleague, touching the lives of many people. Shelley was a rock of support for everyone in her family and will never be forgotten.
She is survived by one sister, Kim, and her two children, daughter Jackie, and son Scott.
Shelley was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Margret Sponsler of Moss Beach, CA, and younger brother Richard Donovon.
A memorial service will be held on August 1,2024 at 2:00 pm at Skylawn Memorial Park, where Shelley will rest with her parents. A celebration will follow at Vino Santo restaurant in Redwood City at 5:00 pm.
