Shek Luen Ko's Obituary
Our father, Shek Luen Ko, was born in Sa Kai Village in Canton, China on September 25th 1934. He was one of seven children to parents Ko Kim Yiu. He quit school after 7th grade to work as his father’s fabric salesman assistant to help support their family. He escaped to Hong Kong in his mid 20’s and started his own family sized tailoring business where he met my mom. In search of better opportunities for his children, our father had spent countless months and years alone in countries such as Curaçao, Venezuela, Columbia, Santo Domingo and Puerto Rico and finally the U.S. He opened up his own restaurant, Golden Buddha Chinese Restaurant in San Jose in 1982 and built up great success and fortune from it. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, provider and role model.He will be forever be missed, respected and admired by all of us.先父高鍚鑾先生，中國廣東省中山沙溪鄕永厚村人士，出生於農曆一九三四年九月廿五日。祖父名高金耀，育有七名子女，父親排行第五。父親年幼勤奮好學，但因要幫補家計，初中畢業便被迫輟學幫袓父到台山開平賣布。有遠見的父親，於廿多歲便申請到香港打併。在製衣廠併搏多年，累積了足夠金錢和經驗便開創自己的製衣厰 。後耒在製衣厰巧遇母親後，我們四姊弟亦相繼出世。父親為了改善我們生活的素質，經常日以計夜不停工作，不辭勞苦！為了我們有更好的將來，父親決定孤身到庫拉索，委內瑞拉，哥倫比亞，多明尼加和美國等地去尋找發展機會，最後在美國安定下耒做學廚。於一九八二年二月一日，父親在聖荷西開辨了金佛酒樓，終於成功賺取他的第一桶金。對我們耒說，父親的拼搏及永不言敗精神，是我們學習的好榜樣。憑著父親的智慧，遠見及勤勞，我們現時享有優質的生活，所以父親在我們心目中是好丈夫，好父親及好祖父。我們永遠懷念、尊敬和崇拜他！父親，我們永遠愛你！
