Sarah E. Crittenden's Obituary
Sarah Ellen Crittenden passed away November 1, 2010 at her home in Yreka. She was 80 years old. Sarah was born August 5, 1930 in Johnston County, North Carolina to Willis and Sarah Lassiter. She attended school in North Carolina. In 1947, Sarah married James Leroy Crittenden in South Carolina, and the couple moved to South San Francisco shortly thereafter. Sarah raised a family, and worked as a housekeeper. James passed away in 1984, and Sarah moved to Siskiyou County to be close to her son, Steven. Sarah was a board member of the Church of the Nazarene in Yreka. She enjoyed quilting, bowling, raising her 17 year old granddaughter, Emma, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sarah is survived by a daughter, Pam Gabrielson and a son, Steven Crittenden; five grandchildren, Debbie Harton, Lyn Harton, Rhonda Crittenden-Belongie, Rhe Perdue and Emma Crittenden; and eight great grandchildren, Annabelle Perdue, Mark Crittenden-Belongie, Billy Hart, Caleb Perdue, Joel Perdue, Carly Crittenden-Belongie, Maggie Perdue and Riley Harton-Greener. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, James and a son, Mark Crittenden. A visitation will be held Friday, November 5, 2010 from 9AM to 5 PM at Girdner Funeral Chapel in Yreka. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the First Southern Baptist Church in Yreka. Interment will be next to her husband in Sky Lawn Memorial Park in San Mateo. Memorial contributions may be made to Madrone Hospice, 255 Collier Circle, Yreka, CA 96097.
