Sangeeta Batra's Obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Sangeeta Batra (Sneh Lata Taneja), loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched. She passed away on August 26, 2019, at the age of 71, surrounded by her many loving friends and family.Sangeeta was born on September 30, 1947, in Amritsar (Home of the Golden Temple), India, the daughter of Shanti Devi and Hans Raj Taneja.She earned her B.A. degree in Hapur (1966) and Bachelor of Education degree from Meerut, U.P (1967).In 1969, she met her life partner, Surinder in New Delhi. They married soon after, and over the next 5 years, welcomed two beautiful daughters, Anjali (1971), followed by Hema (1974). Anjali inherited her ambition and drive to do better in life, while Hema inherited her great strength for taking on any difficult challenges life throws at you.Sangeeta called many places home as she and her husband constantly worked towards a better life for their family. They lived in many places around India before moving to Canada and the United States, eventually settling in California. Throughout her travels, she learned unique regional dishes that added to her excellent cooking skills.Sangeeta worked at IBM from 1978 until 1992.Sangeeta loved to cook, entertain friends and family, work out and had a passion for playing bridge. She was an amazing host – you could never come to her house without being offered food and beverages. If you didn’t eat anything she would send some food home with you.Sangeeta is survived by her husband Surinder of 50 years, daughters Anjali (Richard) and Hema (Thomas) Barthen, three grandchildren, a sister, two brothers and many nieces and nephews.Sangeeta’s new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will reunite with family, friends, and pets she has not seen in a long time. She will be socializing, dancing, singing, gardening and playing cards to her heart’s content. Music, laughter, and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and she will never gain an ounce.Service is to be held at Skylawn Memorial on Friday, August 30th at 10:00 am.Please join us in celebrating Sangeeta’s wonderful life and accomplishments.
