Sameer Jayakar's Obituary
Sameer Jayakar, 65, of Los Altos, passed away on March 12, 2021, peacefully at home with his wife by his side. He was born in India. He came to the U.S. in 1979 after completing an engineering degree at IIT Bombay, where he received the President of India Gold Medal Award. He attended UC Berkeley and Stanford University for his advanced degrees. He married Dr. Sunita Jayakar in 1981, and they lived in the Bay Area for the last 40 years, where they raised their two children, Preeya and Dr. Rohit Jayakar. Sameer’s grandson, Deven, brought tremendous joy to his life. Sameer worked in executive positions in startup and hi-tech companies.
No peak was too high for Sameer. He had a passion for the outdoors and took pleasure in organizing group hiking and biking activities, as well as vacations with friends and family. He was the life of the party - his dynamic public speaking kept audiences engaged at every event.
He lived an exciting life and was a dedicated father and husband, as well as a beloved friend to many. His brilliance, positive outlook on life, and devotion to his family defined him. Sameer’s illness never took away his love for life, and he lived every single day to the fullest with his endearing perpetual smile.
Memorial services in remembrance of an amazing human being, celebrating a beautiful soul who has touched all of our lives, were held on Sunday, March 14 2021 at 11:00 am. You may watch this ceremony here.
