Rudolf Hermann Geipel's Obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Rudolf (Rudi) Hermann Geipel, our loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.He left us while sleeping peacefully at his home in San Bruno, California on March 13, 2019. He was 96 years old.Rudi was born in Markneukirchen, Germany on January 20, 1923 to Alfred and Else Geipel. He served as a German soldier in World War II. After the war, he met his loving wife Isolde Wurster. They married in Fellbach, Germany in 1952. They recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in February.Shortly after Rudi and Isolde married, Rudi had the opportunity to move to the United States, with the first shipment of Mercedes-Benz. He retired with Diamler-Benz of Germany 42 years later.Rudi was a beloved father to son Alfred Geipel of Sunnyvale, California, daughters Elisabeth Smith of Redwood City, California, Dorothea Lopuck of San Mateo, California, and Susanne Delagnes of Menlo Park, California. Rudi was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.A Celebration of Life service for Rudi will be conducted by Pastor John Kuehner of Calvary & Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church on April 6th at 10:00 AM at the home of daughter Dorothea Lopuck, 8 Kelton Court, San Mateo, California 94403.In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Rudi’s honor.
