Roy Gantt JR's Obituary
Bro. Roy Gantt Jr was born on June 1, 1958 to the late Roy and Johnetta Gantt in East Palo Alto, California.Roy was the baby son of four siblings. Roy accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized on December 4, 2016 at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor John W. Waiters.Roy enjoyed coming to church with his sisters when his health permitted him to do so. Roy was a single man with no children. Roy attended Sequoia High School and graduated in June, 1977.After graduation, Roy enrolled at the Department of Adult Education and successfully completed training in the Building Maintenance Program.Roy valued his own money. His first job was a paper carrier for the Palo Alto Times and Roy received a plate for Carrier Of The Month in July, 1973.Roy landed several jobs; machine operator, electronics, and his last job was a kitchen helper at the VA Hospital, Menlo Park, California, until his health precluded his continues employment.Roy had a big heart and a giving heart to many of his friends at the rehabilitation facility where he lived. He will be truly missed and loved.Roy made you laugh; he enjoyed sports and working with his hands. If you needed something put together, he was the one you would call.Bro. Roy was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Johnetta Gantt and his brother Ronald Lee Gantt.Bro. Roy leaves to cherish his memories his devoted and lovely sisters, Beverly Dillard and Vivian Stevenson (Timothy) of East Palo Alto, California; two nieces Biafra Gantt and Lakiea Gantt; several great nephews and great nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends.
