Schendel, Ross Edison's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Ross E. Schendel, a
cherished husband, father, brother, veteran, and entrepreneur, who peacefully left this world on
December 15, 2024, at the age of 92. Our hearts ache as we reflect on the invaluable presence
he brought into our lives.
Ross was born in a small Texas town in 1932, the third youngest in a family of 12 siblings. In his
early 20s, Ross bravely answered the call of duty as a Marine during the Korean War. This
period in the armed forces helped shape his unwavering character and instilled a lifelong sense
of honor and dedication. After his service, he moved to California, driven by the desire to create
a bright future for his family.
As an entrepreneur, Ross founded a successful chain of self-service car washes that quickly
became a beloved fixture in the community. Beyond providing a service, he created a sense of
belonging and opportunity within the neighborhoods he served.
Above all, Ross was devoted to his family. He and his beloved wife, Mary, shared a beautiful
partnership as they raised three children, whom he is survived by: Lisa, Leonard, and his wife
Annette, and Lori and her husband David; grandchildren Jessica, Jenny, Vince, Ross, Michael,
Travis, Sara, Sarah, Samantha, and Stephen and great-grandson, Briggs; his sister Carolyn.
and a large extended family. His absence leaves a profound void, but we will carry his spirit in
our hearts. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary, and their cherished
granddaughter, Mary Rose.
