Rosenda Acosta Reyes' Obituary
Rosenda Acosta Reyes, lovingly known by family as Rosing, mother of four, grandmother of four and great-grandmother of one, passed into the arms of our Lord on July 8, 2021 at 10:44 PM. She is survived by her husband of sixty two years, Bernardo Romero Reyes, sister Maria Loretta Acosta Wong and sister Trinidad Acosta Abulencia.
Rosing was born in Calasaio Pangasinan, Philippines in 1932, and emigrated with husband Bernardo to Canada in 1967, with two pieces of luggage and four children. In 1969 they moved to San Francisco with the assistance of her late brother, Elbert Acosta. Rosing graduated with a degree in Pharmacology in the Philippines, but needed to work as a nurse's aide, along with other jobs in the States, in order to provide for her family - but she was able to retire to care for her grandchildren. Her husband, Bernardo, was employed as a mechanical engineer for the Navy. From their humble beginnings they saved and invested in apartment buildings in San Francisco, and were able to fulfill their dream of educating their children.
Rosing and her husband were active in the United Pangasinan Association and the Senor Divino Tesoro Association. They moved the family home to Kenwood Way in 1976, and housed their children & grandchildren until each of their children left to pursue their careers and education. The grandchildren remained in the family home to care for their grandfather, Bernardo.
Rosing’s greatest joy was spending time and surrounding herself with family and friends.
