Ronald Socrates Curtis' Obituary
Ron was born Jun 24, 1934 in Youngstown, Ohio to Greek parents, Gust Curtis and Marie Fessa, born in Turkey, Ron passed away peacefully at home on September 4, 2013 in Roseville, California.His father emigrated from Greece as a young man to be with an older brother. Ron lived in Cleveland, Ohio for his school years attending Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He joined the Army and spent a year and a half active duty in the US and then the reserves for six years. While he was stationed at Ford Ord on the Monterey Peninsula, he decided he would remain in California after the service.Ron’s first job after leaving the service was a new car salesman in San Francisco on Van Ness Avenue. After some experience he was hired by Proctor and Gamble. His next career move was Smith Kline Laboratories where is set up and opened medical labs in the Western United States for several years before becoming a manager of sales at IDL Labs in San Leandro, California, retiring in 1999 and moving to Roseville, California.He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Michael and Jason Curtis from his first marriage; Patricia’s two children, Sharon Sanchez and Jeff Collins; four grandchildren, Athena Curtis; Lauryn Sanchez; Jeffery Collins; Daniel Sanchez; sister, Evelyn Leonardos; niece Marina Leonardos; nephew, Constantine LEonardos; Cousin and Goddaughter Norma Llewellyn. Ron will be remembered for his love of everything Greek, his humor, his generous manner, his devotion to the 49ers, his love for his family and friends.A memorial service is being held at Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park’s chapel on Friday, September 27 2013 at 12pm.
