if you believe in fate, that is how I met Romie. In 1996, I went on a field trip with my kindergarten age daughter to Ardenwood Farms. I never knew this place existed and only a few miles from where I lived. It was an amazing experience and rode the horse drawn wagon with Charolette and Charlie the two Belgian Drafts. After getting home that day, I went through the paper as usual lookiing for part time work to fill my days. I found an ad looking for volunteers to work with draft horses. Having had my own horses for years, I jumped on that and called. Romie answered and agreed to meet me.
Upon my arrival and a quick chat of my personal experience with horses, we walked over to the pasture where all the white percherons were. He handed me a halter and pointed to one and said "bring me that one"
I walked over, put the halter on and the horse continued to graze head down and heavy. I yanked on the halter and began to walk towards Romie. He said "She knows horses"
I got the job and he taught me to drive. I will cherish that experience forever.
Thank you Romie
