Thank you for posting this photo of my father.
I met Bob when He was a Senior in High School. I had just gotten out of the Navy. We immediately became friends due to our love of cars. He had a built engine in His ’54 Ford he was trying to tune. It had several carburetors and He was having trouble getting them synchronized. Just after He got it running He was hit by an old woman and it totalled His dream car. He pulled the motor and it sat for a long time before He could find a buyer. He had many cool cars. His Ford, a 1960 Chevrolet Biscayne with a 348 with a 3 speed on the column n it. He went all the way to Oregon to buy it from a Police auction. He raced it at Hal Moon Bay dragstrip and did quite well. He wasn’t satisfied with its performance so He bought a 409 long bl and put the 348 heads on it and it went a lot faster.. One day we were racing a Corvette on El Camino, when He speed shifted into second gear He broke the lever off and we had to clamp a set of vice grips on the shifter. I never did know why He sold it. He had a Model A, a 190 SL roadster, English Austin delivery panel,. He often drove His Dad’s ’57 Cadillac once in awhile, and drove His Grandma’s ’55 Chevrolet station wagon. We made a lot of trips to Santa Cruz with the surfboards in the back. I moved away and didn’t see Him again until We reunited at Jim Bennets Anniversary party He was a dear friend although we didn’t communicate since then.
