Robert Addison Cissna Jr.'s Obituary
Robert Addison Cissna, Jr. died peacefully in his home on August 16, 2016 in Belmont, CA. Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years Naomi (Ziff) and his children, Kathleen Parkin (John), Korene Huston (David), Robert J. Cissna (Suzanne); and 5 grandchildren Janelle, Jimmy, Rachel, Tommy and Tony and 3 great-grandchildren Addison, Jacob and Joseph.Robert was born December 19, 1928 in Bayonne, New Jersey. In 1948 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was assigned to a radar installation in Half Moon Bay and Mt. Tamalpias, California.In 1953 he began his career as a member of the IBEW, Local #617. He worked as an electrician for 45 years, rising to General Foreman and Superintendent in San Mateo County. He was a member of the San Mateo Elks, Masonic Lodge #226, member of the Scottish Rite and the Shrine.He loved traveling with his wife by land, by sea and in their RV. Nothing was more important to Robert than family. He built a successful career and was known to reach out to those in need. He volunteered countless hours with the Belmont Salvation Army. He opened his heart and his home.Robert was a caring and kind gentleman of high morals who put the needs of others before his own. People were drawn to him by his friendly manner and his gentle kindness. He mentored people in work and in his life. He led his life by example; a man of great integrity who will be missed by all of us.A Celebration of Life for Robert will be held on August 28, 2016 at the San Mateo Elks at 1p.m. and we welcome family and friends to attend.The Cissna family wants to thank both the VA and Mission Hospice and asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Robert’s memory.
