Rip Boon Kim's Obituary
Beloved mother and grandmother Rip Boon Kim passed away on May 15, 2013, in San Jose, California. She was 99.Kim was born in Korea in 1914 to Chi Sun and Saung Sook Kim. She was married to Gi Ju Yun (1907-1973). She moved to the United States permanently in 1973 and lived with her children in California, New Jersey, and Virginia, spending her last years in California. She became a naturalized US citizen in 1996, which she was very proud of.She is survived by her five children: Tae In Yun, Young Sook Choy, Jin Sook Hong, Saung Sook Cho, and Wha In Yun; 13 grandchildren: Jennifer, Jeremy, and Josephine Yun; Oojin, Nicholas, and Nicole Choy; Jason and Christine Hong (and Eugene Hong, 1977-2012); Esther and Leonard Cho; and Oliver, Olivia, and Christopher Yun; and 9 great-grandchildren.Fondly known as 'Halmoni' (Korean for 'grandmother') by her grandchildren, and 'Omoni' (Korean for 'mother') by her children, she was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. All her children and grandchildren are eternally grateful for the love and life she gave them.A memorial service will be held on June 1, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo, California.
