Richard Shau Yue Yang's Obituary
Richard passed away peacefully after a 47-year battle with renal failure. He was born in Hong Kong in 1949.
In the early 1970s, Richard settled in San Francisco and began his studies in accounting. He earned a master’s degree from San Francisco State University.
In his early 20s, he was diagnosed with kidney failure, and received a transplant from his sister, Annabelle Yang. For 16 years, Richard lived a full life, working hard as an accountant and managing his family’s San Francisco apartment building. He was able to travel a bit before needing another kidney transplant.
Years later, he received a third transplant. The latter two did not give him the freedom and function of Annabelle’s gift of life. His family, especially his eldest sister, Lucy Yang, admired his courage and stamina as a patient of this terrible kidney disfunction.
Richard was always kind and good natured. He loved to play the guitar and was fond of folk music and the Beatles. He was also an excellent ping-pong player. Richard is survived by his eldest sister, Lucy; his youngest sister, Joyce Lee; his step-brother, Victor; his nephew Woody; and his nieces Olivia, Callie, Michelle, and Nicole. He joins his sister Annabelle in the Heaven they both had faith exists, finally at peace.
