Richard Tin Tuck Jong's Obituary
Richard Tin Tuck Jong born October 26, 1920 in San Francisco left us peacefully at the age of 91 on March 10, 2012 at home with family by his side. He previously survived a massive heart attack and colon cancer showing he was a true fighter and lover of life.He was a kind, loving, happy go lucky husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed visits from friends and family, and greeted everyone with a big smile. He loved having the grandkids sit on his lap and pull on his key ring. He was a dog lover, and in his last few month enjoyed visits from Geri' dog Sancho, and Karen's dogs Soy Sauce and Teriyaki. A common sound in the house was 'Here doggie, here doggie'.He loved playing and singing Chinese music (which was sometimes hard on the family since we weren't really into Chinese music, and you know how loud and irritating the music can be). He was a longtime member of the Nam Chung Musical Association in Chinatown. During the last 8 months of his life, he was home cared by Yinge Yu from 9am to 2pm daily. She would feed, clean, and massage him, and in return he taught her to dance and sing Chinese songs. It was a fantastic caring relationship, and he totally adored her and looked forward to her daily visits. The family is totally grateful to her for her loving care and creating so much happiness for him and all of us in his final months of life. Thank you Yinge, words cannot express the love we have for you, you're truly our angel. After 2pm, his loving wife Ada of over 67 years, would care for him from 3pm to 9am the next morning. Even at 87, she was able to feed, care and get him ready for bed each night, and help him whenever he called for her (and this was often). He was very appreciative by telling her often how much he loved her and how beautiful she is. She is truly lovely both inside and out. A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, she tends to other's needs first before her. They were a perfect match, and had young love until the day he passed.Richard was an Army Veteran, world traveler, and SF 49ers and Giants fan who enjoyed fishing, bowling and billiards. He truly enjoyed life and brought joy and happiness to many. He leaves behind his loving wife Ada after 67 years of a loving marriage, four children and 10 grandchildren.Eldest daughter Geraldine (first grandson Jeffrey Lee, second granddaughter Tiffany Tong, and second grandson Ryan Tong).Second daughter Gloria (son-in-law Peter Joe, first granddaughter Jennifer Joe, and third granddaughter Karen Joe).Third daughter Glenda (son-in-law Victor Wong, fourth granddaughter Christina Wong, fifth granddaughter Kelly Wong, and the seventh granddaughter and last of ten grandchildren Michelle Wong).Fourth child and only son Robert (daughter-in-law Betty Mock and sixth granddaughter Julianne Jong and third grandson Eric Jong). He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Mae Jong (ChongLi), brother-in-law Hank Nogawa (Frances), and over 40 nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Wah Shuk Jong, and mother, Wong Shee, and brothers and sisters-in-law: Wing Hay (Sun Yee), Kay (Ruby), Art (Frances), Chongli, Albert (Mary), David (June) and sister Frances.
