Richard William Langley Sr.'s Obituary
Richard William Langley Sr., affectionately known as "Dick," passed away peacefully at home at the age of 91. Born on June 7th, 1933, in San Francisco, CA, his family moved to Redwood City, CA, where he grew up surrounded by family and the values that shaped his long and fulfilling life. Dick was the beloved son of William Thomas and Betty Susan Langley.
A proud alumnus of Mount Carmel Catholic School and Sequoia Union High School, Dick answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, serving on the USS Sandoval. After his service, he became a Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker and retired after 38 years in the trade.
Dick was a lifetime member of the Redwood City Elks Lodge #1991, where he built lifelong friendships and gave back to the community.
In his personal life, Dick cherished family and adventure. He was previously married with three children and found love again with his devoted spouse, Phyllis, with whom he shared memorable time at their cabin in Mi-Wuk, CA and on RV trips across the country. He enjoyed many rounds of golf, days on the ski slopes, playing softball, eating at Barb's Sea Food Trap in Half Moon Bay, and in later years, watching all things sports on TV. Dick also found simple joys in the companionship of his lovely spouse Phyllis, in the daily ritual of smoking a good cigar, and in the many dogs he adopted over the years.
Dick's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and the joys of family and community. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
