Ricardo Gordillo's Obituary
Ricardo Jaime Gordillo, III, proud native of Leon, Nicaragua; proud to have been raised in San Francisco; proud veteran of the Korean War; beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, and brother passed peacefully on April 20, 2012, in Portland, Oregon.Rick was born in Leon on April 28, 1930 and, in 1945, came to San Francisco with his mother and 3 younger brothers. In 1953, he married the love of his life, Olga, who, sadly, left us in 2009; they were happily married for over 56 years. Rick served in the Korean War as a Sergeant First Class, and was awarded both the Purple Heart and Silver Star.Rick loved storytelling, a good martini, John Wayne movies, Latin music, Olga's cooking, the Giants & 49ers, and most of all, his family. He is survived by his daughter, Vivian (Bob), son, Rick (Teresa), grandchildren, Stefanee, Bobby, and Isabella, and great-grandchildren, Aydan, Quinn, Eli and Jillian, and his brothers Silvio and Ed. Rick lived a good, long life, full of love, laughter and adventure; we will always love and miss him.Services are tentatively scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend at Skylawn Memorial Park, San Mateo. If attending, please arrive by 10:45 AM at the main reception center.
