Reynaldo DeVera Alvendia's Obituary
Reynaldo DeVera Alvendia, affectionately known as Rey, Dad, Grandpa, and Meemo, was born on April 5, 1949, in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Philippines. On June 16, 2026, he peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Rey is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Grace Carpio Alvendia; his children, Marlon Alvendia, Glenn Alvendia, and Cherry Lai; his daughter-in-law Jennifer Alvendia and son-in-law Joshua Lai; and his cherished grandchildren Riley, Milo, Aria, Mia, Titus, and Ivan. He is also survived by his sisters Liwayway Agcaoili, Sonia Pasalo, Guia Rodriguez, Doris Alvendia, and Grace Tito, and his brother Oscar Alvendia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hermogenes and Leonor Alvendia, his sister Lorna Alvendia, and his brother Nanding Alvendia.
Throughout his life, Rey was known for his perseverance, generosity, and unwavering faith in God. After completing college and pursuing two years of law studies, he worked diligently in various occupations to provide for his family. In 1994, Rey and Grace immigrated to the United States with their three children, trusting God to guide them as they began a new chapter of life. He later worked for more than 17 years in airline catering services while faithfully serving his family and church community.
More than any career accomplishment, Rey will be remembered as a man of prayer. His life was marked by a deep trust in the Lord and a steadfast belief in God's provision and faithfulness. He loved sharing his testimony of how God transformed his life and often encouraged others through stories of God's care, guidance, and answered prayers.
Rey had a gift for making people feel welcomed and valued. Whether among family, friends, church members, or strangers, he was quick to offer a warm conversation, a helping hand, or a heartfelt prayer. He deeply loved his family, treasured his siblings, and took great joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Though he was not a perfect man, his life reflected the grace of God at work. His legacy lives on through the faith he modeled, the prayers he faithfully offered, and the love he poured into the lives of those around him. Above all, Rey desired that those he loved would come to know the same faithful Savior whom he trusted throughout his life.
Rey's family rejoices in the assurance that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord he faithfully loved and served throughout his life. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
