Retta Inez Herren's Obituary
Retta Inez Herren, died peacefully on November 16, 2017 in Santa Clara California. Retta was born on December 15, 1932 in Fort Worth, Texas to Andrew Jackson Rose and Fannie Avo Tallant. She was the tenth child in a family of eleven children. She would have been 85 years old next month.Her 5th Great-grandmother was Sarah Boone the elder sister of Daniel Boone. Sent by their father Squire Boone, Sr. Sarah and two of her older brothers came alone by sea from England to settle in the New World in the early 1600’s.That same pioneering spirit was in Retta. By the mid 60’s, she was employed in civil service as a Satellite Communications Specialist with the USAF and then with General Electric. She retired after 25 years of combined service for our nation.Several years after losing her beloved husband of 29 years, Harold Frank Herren, Sr., she met John Weber of Tucson, Arizona. They shared a beautiful life together for 27 and a half years, spending time with family and many, many friends. Their favorite pastime was spending vacations in their cabin on the Rogue River.Retta is survived by her spouse, John Weber, her sons Harold Frank Herren, Jr. and Ronald Ray Herren, his wife Theresa and their son William Frank Herren. She is also survived by her brother, Bobby Douglas Rose and his wife, Ann Jeanine, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Retta will be missed by all whose lives were touched by her generous and loving spirit.A private cremation will follow at a later date.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital which was Retta’s favorite charity.
