Raymond Jerrold Mason's Obituary
Raymond Jerrold Mason passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, in Burlingame, California, at the age of 91.
Born in San Francisco in 1935, Ray attended Lowell High School and pursued higher education at Cogswell College. He dedicated his career to the City and County of San Francisco as a land surveyor, playing a significant role in the development and infrastructure of San Francisco International Airport.
ay was a man of many interests and talents. He found great satisfaction in working on cars and maintaining his home, always taking pride in every project he undertook. An avid reader with a passion for history and current events, he spent countless hours expanding his knowledge and understanding of the world through books and newspapers. He and his beloved wife, Diana, shared a love of travel and enjoyed many road trips across the country together.
A devoted sports fan, Ray rarely missed a game (on TV) and was known as the Burlingame Rugby Club’s biggest supporter. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, and everyone who met him came away with a memorable story or unique interaction. His warmth, curiosity, sense of humor, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Family was at the center of Ray’s life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diana, with whom he shared many cherished years. He is survived by his children, Ray Mason, Judi Mason, and Matt Mason; his grandchildren, Maya Mason, Gabriela Mason, Matthew Mason and Scarlett Rae Mason; his daughters-in-law, Samantha Mason and Joanne Bethencourt; his brother, Michael Mason; and many extended family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on June 10, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Skylawn Memorial Park, 888 Lifemark Road.
Ray’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May his life and legacy bring comfort to all who knew him.
