Raul Muniz's Obituary
Raúl Muñiz was born on August 18th, 1937 in El Paso, Texas, and departed on January 8th, 2022 in San Mateo, CA. Survived by spouse, Ramona Muñiz, Karina Muñiz-Pagán (daughter) and Lynette Muñiz-Pagán (daughter-in-law), nieces and nephews, godchildren and great-nieces and nephews from El Paso, Texas to Connecticut. He is preceded in death by his parents Candelaria and Fernando Muñiz, and siblings Evelina, Maximo, and Fernando Jr. After serving in the Army and going back to school, he spent 30 years in San Francisco Unified School District as a teacher and as an administrator, retiring as principal from Aptos Middle School. Raúl was a beloved family member, friend, leader in public education, and avid handball player and Niner fan. Twenty years after he retired, whether teacher or student, so many remember him as their favorite principal. He was loved by many and known for his infectious laughter, generous heart, good will, wisdom and determination. Raúl was someone you could count on, to be there for you, to see the good in others and to make you laugh. The world is a better place thanks to how he loved and lived his life. His ashes have been laid to rest at Skylawn Memorial Park should you wish to visit and pay respects.
