Raghbir Singh's Obituary
Raghbir Singh passed away peacefully on the morning of June 13, 2026, at the age of 99, surrounded by his family.
Raghbir Singh was born in the spring of 1927 in Kalewal Fattu, Punjab. He was a scholar who studied poetry at Punjab University in Lahore, a passion that remained with him throughout his life. Following his studies, he joined the Indian Army, where he served as a Captain in the Artillery. He later established himself as one of the largest landowners and farmers in the state of Uttar Pradesh. His farm, Shamsabad Khabaria, was where he spent most of his life.
Dedicated to the welfare of his community, he worked tirelessly to uplift those around him, helping to establish several schools and hospitals that served the surrounding villages. His contributions and influence will continue to be felt for generations to come.
He had a deep love for animals, nature, poetry, and politics. A deeply spiritual and religious man, he devoted hours each day to prayer, even after he was no longer able to read. He was also a charismatic individual who formed many enduring friendships throughout his life.
Raghbir Singh was a devoted husband, son, father, brother, and grandfather who cared for and supported his family in ways that transcended duty and time. He is survived by his wife, Balbir Kaur; his only daughter, Shivdeep Purewal; and her family, including three grandchildren whom he dearly adored.
