Priscilla Hurlow's Obituary
Priscilla Lun Yuen Wan Hurlow was born in 1933 in Shiuhing, Guangzhou, China, on the eve of World War II. She was the second daughter of Lun Chak Sum and his wife, Lun Kwong Shuk Ying, Lun Kwong Kit Ying and Lun Lai Por Por. Priscilla came from a large and loving family, growing up alongside her older sister and brothers—Peter, Paul, Dominic, Daniel, Anthony, the late Lun Lai Gyun, Andrew, and Florence.
Her early years were spent in Hong Kong, where she would later meet the love of her life, John, while still in high school. In 1958, Priscilla left for England to pursue her college education. Deeply devoted, John followed her, leaving behind family to be with her. They married in 1960, and by the end of that year, they welcomed their first child, Mark, in Leeds. Soon after, John’s Royal Air Force service brought them to Singapore, where they had two more sons, Alex and Paul. Eventually, the couple returned to Hong Kong to be closer to both their families. It was there that Priscilla gave birth to their remaining children—Philip, and twin daughters Marianne and Patricia. In 1979, Priscilla and John made the bold decision to immigrate to the United States, driven by their dream of offering a better life and brighter future for their children.
After retiring in 1999, Priscilla embraced her role as the heart of the family. She found joy in traveling with her children, sharing her love through cooking, and preparing for family gatherings with her children and grandchildren. She was the quiet but ever-present matriarch who celebrated family birthdays, holidays, and special occasions. She was also a gentle and dedicated caregiver to her daughter Patricia and to several of her grandchildren.
Priscilla is survived by her beloved children—Mark, Alex, Paul, Philip, and her twin daughters Marianne and Patricia. She also leaves behind five cherished children-in-law, eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
