Praveen Shankar, age 67, of Brentwood, California, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
Praveen was born on April 2, 1959, in Suva, Fiji Islands, to Shiu Shankar and Savitri Shankar. He built a life defined by hard work, dedication, and deep love for his family. On July 18, 1982, he married the love of his life, Mohini Shankar, and together they created a strong and loving family that remained at the center of his world.
Praveen spent much of his career working as an Auto Body Technician at Town Ford in Menlo Park, California, where he was known for his skill, reliability, and work ethic. He lived in San Mateo for over 35 years before retiring and moving to Brentwood, where he continued to enjoy life surrounded by family.
He will be remembered as a man who was funny, charismatic, and incredibly strong—a true fighter in every sense of the word. At the same time, he carried a quiet warmth, with a gentle voice and a kind smile that made those around him feel at ease. His presence brought comfort, his laughter brought joy, and his love left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Praveen is survived by his beloved wife, Mohini Shankar; his son, Jerry Shankar, and daughter-in-law, Asmita Shankar; his daughter, Jessica Kygar, and son-in-law, Nick Kygar; and his cherished granddaughter, Aria Shankar. He is also survived by his mother, Savitri Shankar; his older sister, Shashi Kiran Prasad; and his younger brother, Peter Shankar. He was preceded in death by his father, Shiu Shankar, and his sister, Roshni Narayan.
Praveen’s legacy lives on in the family he built, the lives he touched, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
