Thomas C Gillespie
In grade school Phil and I were friends and we formed a band - Phil on drums, me on trumpet, and Patrick Fitzgerald on guitar (as I recall). We practiced a lot at his house, but we were awful - not Phil, of course, he was the best player we had. In later life (last few years), Phil took up the Irish Bodhran and I had been playing the Scottish bagpipes and Irish bagpipes (Uilleann pipes) for some time. We tried playing together a few times by exchanging recordings, though my playing on the Uilleann pipes was a bit rough. But, of course, that was Phil all over - always open to new things, always exploring new avenues in life. I shall miss him dearly.
Phil, rest in the peace of God. Your journey here is done, but your next journey has just begun.
