Pedro H. Tadina's Obituary
Pedro Tadina, aged 103 years old, passed away at the home of his eldest daughter in Murrieta, CA on October 11, 2017.He was born on September 7, 1914, in San Fernando, La Union, Philippines. He married his beautiful wife, Gregoria, in March1960, but she predeceased him in November of 2016 at age 85.Pedro came to the United States in the 1930’s – first living in Hawaii, then Los Angeles, and finally settling in San Francisco. He enlisted in the United States Navy in the 1940’s, and though he did not make a career of it, received an honorable discharge after serving them loyally and faithfully. Soon after, he joined the Merchant Marines and retired after 30 years of Federal Service. He continued to work even after retirement at the Merchant’s Exchange in San Francisco. He lived in The City with his wife and two daughters. After more than two decades in the same house, he and his wife moved to Benicia to be closer to their youngest daughter in Vallejo, CA, and to help care for their young grandson, Nicholas. In 2004, they moved to Murrieta in southern California to be with their eldest daughter. Pedro will forever be remembered for his kindness, his relaxed and easy-going demeanor, his incredible stories, and most of all – his amazing, homemade biscuits!He is survived by his daughter Olivia Acosta and her husband Jose, daughter Olga Soo Hoo and her husband Timothy; his grandchildren – Daniel and Alexxe Acosta, Nicholas and Dylan Soo Hoo; nieces Gerarda Clare and Mila Garces, and nephew Dione Mayo; grand niece Nancy Munar and her husband Albert, grand nephew Derick Turqueza and his wife Mafette; great grand niece Nicole Munar, great grand nephews Andrew Munar, and Dominic, Marco, and Erick Turqueza.The funeral mass will be held on October 20, 2017, at 10:30am at St. Bartholomew Church in San Mateo. The pallbearers are Jose and Daniel Acosta, Timothy and Nicholas Soo Hoo, Albert and Andrew Munar, Derick Turqueza and Octavius Lazo. Burial service is at 12 noon at Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park at Highway 92 and Skyline Blvd., San Mateo, CA 94402. There will be a viewing on Thursday, October 19th, from 4-7pm.
