Pauline Fortune's Obituary
Pauline Fortune of San Francisco, CA was 91 years old when she passed on March 26, 2016 peacefully in her sleep.Pauline was born on October 26, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri to Herschell Scott and Grace Bell. She attended Wendell Philips Elementary School and R.T. Coles High School in Kansas City, Missouri.Pauline had 7 siblings, which includes Bernice, Herschell Jr, Leon, Earl, Oscar Jr, Ruby and Rudolph.In 1941 , she married William Nathaniel Starks in Springfield, Missouri. During this union, Pauline and William had two sons, William and Leon.In 1949, she met L.W. Fortune of Lynchburg, SC and married him in Sept of 1958. They bought their first home in San Francisco in 1958. They had no children.Pauline was a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for over 30 years at Mt Zion Hospital in San Francisco, CA.She loved to travel and take cruises around the world with her husband and son. She traveled to many places like, Norway, Alaska, Canada and Japan.She is survived by her son William J. Starks, of San Jose, grandchildren Eric Starks of San Jose, Craig Starks of San Jose, and Elinor Boyedo-Dunn (James) of San Jose; nieces, Barbara Levias of Modesto, CA, Esther Toombs (Gary) of Kansas City, MO, Theresa Scott of Kansas City, MO, Priscilla Franklin (Solomon) of Austin, TX, Hershalene Scott of Los Angeles, CA , Marquita Coleman of San Jose, CA and Cheryl West (Tony) of Modesto, CA. Nephews, Leroy Scott (Woody), Stanley Scott (Jane), Byron Scott (Scooter), and David Scott (Dorothy) of Kansas City, MO, Ronald Coleman and Troy Coleman (Belinda) of San Jose, CA and a host of great- grandchildren, great nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her husband L.W. Fortune, son Leon Starks, brothers Herschell, Leon, Earl, Oscar Jr and Rudolph and sisters Bernice and Ruby.Service:Funeral Services for Pauline will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Skylawn Memorial Park.
