Paul Yee Soong's Obituary
Paul Yee Soong, aged 95, of San Mateo, California died on August 27, 2015.He was born March 9, 1920 in China to Soong Chia-Bai and Wang Yu-chi. Paul graduated from Jiao-Tung University in Shanghai in 1942. Afterwards he worked for the Taiwan Power Company in Taipei. On September 26, 1954, he married Josephine Wu.In 1958, Paul and his family immigrated to the United States where they lived initially in New York City and Connecticut. While there in 1962 he received a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from Columbia University. The family later moved to Pennsylvania and finally Maryland. Paul worked as a nuclear engineer and retired from the NUS Corporation and Bechtel Corporation in Rockville, Maryland after 27 years. After retirement, Paul and Josephine moved to California to be closer to grandchildren. Josephine predeceased Paul by 15 months.Paul, who was one of seven children, is survived by his youngest sister, Soong Bao-Shun of Toronto, Canada; three children, Patricia Soong (Michael) of Hillsborough, California, Jeanette Ray of Naperville, Illinois and Steven Soong (Mei-Ting) of Poughquag, New York; and six grandchildren, Andrew, Paul, Elizabeth, Allison, Jennifer and Linus.Paul enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with family. A funeral will be held Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 10 o’clock in the morning at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo, California.
