Patricia Mitchell's Obituary
Patricia “Pat” Mitchell, née Brown, passed away on February 22, 2026, after a brief illness. She was 82 years old.
Pat was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1943 to Edgar N. Brown and Mildred (Prekop) Brown. As the daughter of parents serving in the United States military, Pat spent much of her childhood moving from place to place. These early years shaped her resilience, adaptability, and deep appreciation for family as the constant in her life.
Her family eventually settled in San Mateo, California, where Pat attended Hillsdale High School and graduated with the class of 1961. It was there that she met the love of her life, Chester Mitchell. Pat and Chet married in 1963 and built a life grounded in loyalty, shared values, and quiet strength.
Pat was the devoted mother of two sons, Christopher and Timothy, and she welcomed her daughter‑in‑law, Teri, with warmth and affection. She was a loving grandmother to Miranda and Andrew, who brought her immense joy. Pat is also survived by her sister, Sally (Brown) Holman.
A lifelong animal lover, Pat cared for a great number of pets over the years. Her home was always open to animals in need, and she treated every pet as a cherished member of the family. Her love of animals was a defining part of who she was.
Pat was known for her firm beliefs and unwavering ideals. She carried a clear sense of right and wrong and lived her values with quiet consistency. Those who knew her remember her as steady, loyal, and deeply devoted to the people she loved.
She will be profoundly missed by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
