Patricia Ann Lionberger's Obituary
Patricia Ann Thibedeau was born on March 4th, 1937 to Mose
Vincent Thibedeau and Muriel Madeline Thibedeau in Superior,
Wisconsin. Pat moved with her parents and sister Germaine to
Milwaukee, Wisconsin when she was in middle school and Pat later
attended Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin for two years.
In 1957 she was hired by United Airlines as a Stewardess, receiving
her training in Cheyenne Wyoming and then flying with United from
Chicago to both the West and East coasts of the United States.
In 1957 she met her future husband Edward Lionberger and, after a
one-year romance, they married in 1958. Pat left United Airlines
with her “wings clipped” and raised a family with Edward in San
Mateo and later Hillsborough California. They have four children,
Carol, Robert, Brian and Stephen, who have each survived Patricia.
Pat was an active member of the local chapters of Clipped Wings in
the Bay Area and later in the Sacramento area, renewing old and
creating new friendships with women from the golden age of
commercial aviation.
In her early 60s, Pat joined a group of “Hiking Ladies” who initially
walked the trail surrounding Crystal Springs Reservoir for simple
exercise. As the Hiking Ladies continued to walk father and farther,
they hiked Hawaii, New Zealand, Cornwall England and locations
throughout the United States. It is this exercise that helped Pat
remain very active and healthy to the age of 87.
Pat was a devoted dog mom; to Babe in the late 1960s and early
1970s and, after Edward’s passing, to Gus, Lacey and Roxy. Roxy has
survived Pat and will remain with the family for the rest of her life.
Pat lived a long and charmed life, on her terms, loving her family
and always there to be mom, to be grandma, and to be great
grandma.
Pat is survived by her children, her five grandchildren, 10 great
grandchildren, and her dog Roxy.
