“This too shall pass” “There is always room for one more.”Olive GertzMay 23, 1923 – September 28th, 2014 Fremont, CA ”Olive Gertz, 91, passed over peacefully Sunday, Sept. 28th at Kaiser Medical Center in Redwood City, CA, the town she called home for well over 50 years, to be greeted by our Lord Jesus, her loving soul mate and husband of 46 years Theron B. Gertz, her eldest daughter Evie Perkins, and many dearest loved ones that went before her. She is survived by 5 of her 6 children: Elaine Mangum, David Gertz, Diane Eigenman, Doris Ellis, and Laura Marchi, 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and dozens of extended family and friends who all came to affectionately know her as Mama, Grameo, Aunt O, and friend.Olive was born in Carmen, Oklahoma as one of 9 siblings. She loved and adored her family and friends, enjoyed traveling, was a devoted SF Giants fan, a domino diva, and a dedicated bingo buddy at Veterans Memorial Senior Center. Our hearts feel emptier as we mourn the loss of her presence on earth- the cheer in her voice, the touch of her hands, the love in her eyes, the smell of her home. But we celebrate the beautiful life, legacy, and lessons that will live on in fullness in our hearts- her taste for adventure, her tenacious drive, her open door, open mind, and open heart.May we eternally be reminded by our matriarch to “Make room for one more” and that “This too shall pass.“ Celebration of life: Friday October 10th 2014, 11:00 am Skylawn Memorial Park. Highway 92 & Skyline Blvd. San Meteo, CA 94402 (650)273-4062. Presided by her nephew Pastor Joe Gentzler.
