Charleen And Steve
In the 1960s Steve Ader met Nushin through a mutual friend, Knight of Bahá'u'lláh Frances Heller living in San Rafael. After Nushin’s arrival in San Francisco to attend SFSU, he would often visit with the Maghzi family, being the brother-in-law of Dr. Maghzi’s first cousin. Over the years both Steve, Nushin and Frances would enjoy their special visits with Hourolain,Dr. Maghzi’s mother, who had newly arrived from Iran in the early 1960s.
Charleen has known Nushin since the 1970s since her entry into the Bahá’í community. Having married Dr. Maghzi in 1973, there are many fond family memories. One of these occurred In 1986 when Nushin was house hunting to purchase a home for his parents. He was attracted to the features of a home in San Francisco and shared his finding with Dr. Maghzi who quickly realized it was well suited for the expanding Maghzi intergenerational household and so it was promptly purchased. Nushin then would often enjoy visiting the family in this new Maghzi home.
Without a doubt, Nushin highest aim was to proclaim and share the glad tidings of Bahá'u'lláh’s Message widely both in individual conversations and with public audiences in many creative ways. Growing up in the time when large public proclamation meetings were a primary method of freely teaching in the West, Nushin spared nothing to lavishly create events for Holy and Proclamation Days over the years.
Fast forward to the 2010 Naw Rúz celebration Nushin hosted at the Cultural Integration Fellowship meeting place, when widowed Charleen casually met Steve at a luncheon reception after Steve, visiting the Bay Area from Santa Fe, had read the closing prayer. A few days later Steve visited his long-term good friend Hourolain, providing an opportunity for Charleen and Steve to visit as well. After months of strengthening their bonds of loving friendship, Charleen and Steve married and dear Nushin attended their wedding.
