Norman Moore's Obituary
Norman C. Moore, age 78, born in Brownsville, Texas, passed away on March 30th from complications of ALS. He lived for the past ten years at the Veterans’ residential center in Menlo Park, CA.Norman was raised in Texas and moved to Burlingame in 1959. He attended UC Berkeley and San Jose State University and graduated with degrees in physics, computer science and psychology and an advanced degree in math.He was an Army veteran during the Vietnam War era and served from 1963 to 1965. He was a loyal member of the United Methodist Church in Burlingame since 1959 and served as an usher there for many years.Norman was an animal lover and adored the family cat, a beautiful and intelligent Himalayan cat named Cokie. As the family well knows he loved grape juice, cheeseburgers and sweets of all kinds.Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and A.C. Moore, Jr. He is survived by his sister Linda Rodger (David) of Sahuarita, AZ and sister Zandra Hertzmann of Burlingame, CA. He is also survived by five nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews and by his uncle Sidney Childs of Houston, TX.The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at the VA home in Menlo Park for their devotion and care of Norman during his time there and especially during his last month.Private services will be held at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo, CA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ALS Association or Best Friends Animal Society.
