Norma Laverne Hines' Obituary
Norma Hines was born on 5-19-1921 and grew up on an Iowa farm. Her parents were Anna and William McClatchey 'deceased. She was the last of six children, also deceased. She graduated from Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa, and moved to Chicago to do social work. She married Lawrence Hines in 1943 and they had two sons, Jay and John Robert. They also were parents to a godson, Christopher Courtright. Her husband worked for an airline and they traveled the world, they also enjoyed camping, house boating, jazz festivals and car races. They moved to Belmont, CA in 1978. Norma was a life member of friends of the Belmont Library and volunteered for the San Mateo County Library System for 30 years. She enjoyed playing the organ, doing counted cross-stitch, doing calligraphy, painting, gardening and playing bridge. She loved to cook and enjoyed hosting dinner parties. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday July 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM where she will be interred with her husband (deceased since 2004) at the Skylawn Memorial Park cemetery located at Highway 92 at Route 35 in San Mateo, CA.
