Neva Marie Pearson's Obituary
Neva (Marie) PearsonDied July 1st, 2017 at Gordon Manor in Redwood City, Ca at the age of 89 yrs old. Marie was born to Parents Merle and Alba Allgood on August 19, 1927 at New Sharon, Iowa. Graduated from Oskaloosa HS in 1945. Married Clyde Pearson Nov. 2nd, 1946. Loved the Lord her whole life.Out of respect for my Grandma I will call Marie 5’0″, but for those lucky enough to know her, the ethic, heart and drive housed in that body measured in yards and miles. She just had a bigger presence than most. The 4″ heels had something to do with it, as did the impeccable dresses and hats that drew people in. The respect she had for herself was evident in her appearance and her appearance was telling others she wanted to look nice because she respected them. She deserved their attention and she had something to say. Marie nurtured that leadership by helping the Christian Women’s programs throughout California. Exploring the changing dynamics of women’s roles in church during the 70’s & 80’s. Although she was not Rosa Parks, Marie was a force in any church group she was a part of. She had an extensive library of Christian teachings in addition to works that challenged some core beliefs. Going through that library was awakening to the amount of time and discipline Marie really had in her Faith. She was a vessel for the Word. In the 80’s & 90’s she lead by example to those who struggled with faith. She was approachable and brought laughter to others by performing as a clown to lighten heavy hospital burdens. Being an audience member was a great and memorable experience, but more than that was the ease in with she could have deep, heavy conversations about a strangers place in the world. Strong, selfless, Faithful, loved, not bad ways to be described. Marie was also simple in a lot of ways. A classy broad if you will. The daughter of a farmer, wife to a airplane mechanic she appreciated what she had and she passed that appreciation to her family. Big dinners on holidays, making food from scratch, being outside, going to soccer games, even the ones in Germany, people knew they were important because she showed them. So we now show her what she means to us. Talk to God as a friend and give thankful prayer that the tiny bundle of energy named Marie zipped through our lives too fast but prepared us for our next meeting in the house of our Lord. Marie is survived by daughters Marvel Ortiz and Sharon Roberts as well as Grandchildren; Richard, Joe, Mickey, and Mayo Ortiz with Lynn and William Roberts. Along with Great Grandchildren, Thomas, Jaliyl, Benjamin, Christoper, Samuel, Nicholas, Jennifer, Elias, Erin, Joyae, Clifford, Simone, Sabastian, Journey, Simon, Breanna. Followed by the newest Great Great Grandchild Marley Rojas.A Service will be held at Skylawn Memorial Park on July 10th, 2017 @ 1pm. Celebration of Life following Services at: First Christian Church 2890 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, Ca 94306“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” –Colossians 3:12-14
